About The Dance Factory

'The Dance Factory' was founded in 2006 by Katy Watson (AISTD) with initial classes being taught in Loddington Village Hall. Since this time The Dance Factory has expanded to the neighbouring village of Mawsley with further expansion occuring in September 2010 when Miss Katy took over the very popular 'Jean Harris School of Dance' when its owner, Miss Wendy retired. As a result of the expansion it is now possible to offer classes in four locations: The Centre at Mawsley, the fantastic dance studios at Kettering Science Academy and Bishop Stopford and the Ise Lodge Community Centre. We have also taken on some amazing dancers from Kettering Academy of Dance at the request of it's Principal, due to it's closure in 2014.

All classes are taught by qualified teachers (all DBS approved) with most also coming from a professional dancing background; for more information please see our 'Teachers' page. No lessons are taught by students as we believe in providing the highest standard of teaching for you and your children.

The Dance Factory encourages children to express themselves through dance, gaining confidence and improving social skills. Boys and girls from the age of 2 are given opportunities to take part in Jazz/Street Dance and Contemporary as well as the more disciplined techniques of RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern and Tap. As pupils improve they are given the chance to progress through exams and some may be given the opportunity of taking part in the All England Dance Festivals.

Adult classes are also provided in Tap - many parents being just as keen as their children to take part!

The Dance Factory puts on a production, every two years, to showcase all the hard work undertaken by the children (and adults) which has proved a great success. The students love the opportunity to show off all that they have learned, experience a stage based performance (along with the nerves and excitment) and wear costumes and make-up to suit their chosen characters. The shows are also loved by our ever-supportive parents who get to see their children (and partners) glowing talents. We also perform throughout the year in charity events and variety shows (another wonderful experience in which the students are absolutely fabulous!).
